About Hardwood Installation
Since hardwood planks cannot be installed over existing flooring, the current floors need to be pulled up and disposed of entirely. Any subfloor imperfections need to be repaired and once your subfloor is professionally assessed, you are cleared to have wood floors installed!
Remove all furniture, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms receiving new hardwood, including the closets. Complete all painting in the room before installation day and remove the doors from the rooms as well.
On hardwood installation day, plan to stay home and be on hand to answer questions and address any issues that arise. Designate an area in the home for the hardwood installation crew to keep tools and saw planks as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new hardwood and the worker's designated area.
Once your new hardwood installation is complete, your crew will advise how long you need to wait before the room can receive foot traffic. If the new floor height is higher than before, you may need to shave the doors down to ensure full range of motion. When moving furniture back into the room, always lift pieces or use proper moving equipment with wheels.
